A nationwide poll conducted by the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) on the impending national election of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has predicted a landslide win for former President John Mahama for the party’s flagbearership.

The secret polls said to have been conducted among the party’s delegates, also predicted a win for Dan Abodakpi for the chairmanship position.

A summary of the poll report revealed by reliable sources in the BNI scored John Mahama over 68% of the votes, followed by the main contenders, Dr. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah (13%), Prof. Joshua Alabi (9%) and Alban Bagbin (7%).

For the chairmanship race, it predicted a 41% win for Mr. Dan Abodakpi, indicating that five regions are likely to vote en bloc for him. He is followed by Mr Danny Annang (19%), Mr Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo (18%), Alhaji Huudu Yahaya (14%) and Mrs Betty Mould Iddrisu (8%).

With regard to the position of General Secretary, the polls put Mr Koku Anyidoho, Deputy General Secretary ahead of the incumbent, Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia, with a 52% score.

The BNI has over the years conducted similar secret polls using its intelligence apparatus.

Although it often denies media revelations about it conducting such polls, the predictions of its purported polls materialize.
