The Newly elected National Women’s Organiser of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Dr. Louisa Hanna Bissiw, has said that delegates of a political part can be very powerful when it comes to elections.
According to her, the political euphemism of ‘fear delegates’ is real and no politician should underestimate it.
Speaking in an interview on an Accra based radio station Hanna Bissiw said, “People always say we should fear delegates but because I am a delegate, I never liked such comments but I believe that is the truth”.
She also disclosed that, “I availed myself in all the 10 regions to be vetted by the delegates and on the day of the elections, in one of the regions, the women asked for a devotion session while the Muslims also gathered to pray for me, with “Jesus woko y3 wo ko” as the song for the devotion, ” she revealed.
Hanna Bissiw emerged the winner among three other contenders at the party’s delegates’ congress over the weekend.
She beat other contenders, Hajia Zaynab Mahama, who was the incumbent National Organizer as well as Hajia Tawa Zakari and Margaret Chiravira to take up the position.
