Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong has described former President John Rawlings as a destroyer who dragged Ghana back in terms of development.
Mr. Agyapong who was commenting on the Joy News documentary, “Who killed the judges?” stated that even though Ghana has forgiven the former president, it is prudent for the new generation to know his bad deeds.
According to him, it would be difficult for him as a hero after witnessing a countless number of prodigality under Rawlings’ PNDC era.
He said all the socio-economic problems Ghana is encountering today can be traced to the bad foundation Mr. Rawlings’ laid during his 19-year rule.
Speaking in an interview, the maverick MP said, “His ideologies were full of hatred and envy. Our wounds are still not healed; he did so many wicked things. I will never see Rawlings as a hero. I don’t care about those who see him as a hero.”
He added that, he is a “destroyer who because he set Ghana back.”
Recent documentary by Joy News on the account of the murder of some three High Court Judges and a retired army officer during his regime has sarcastically implicated Rawlings as the master brain behind the killing.
However, the former president claims the documentary is as an attack on him.
Preaching his innocence at a forum in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region, Rawlings said if he was bloodthirsty, the best opportunity to have silenced his critics was in 1979 when the people shouted let the blood flow.
