Renowned gospel musician, Yaw Sarpong in an interview with graphic showbiz has revealed that the lyrical content in majority of secular songs are much better comparably to most gospel songs of today.
According to the ace gospel artiste, a song like CCTV by King Promise among other secular trump today’s gospel songs which merely cast a lot of insinuations at supposed enemies who don’t even exist.
“I have had the opportunity to listen to a lot of secular songs and Gospel songs and I must say that I prefer the secular ones. Although not all the songs are good, the majority are great. There is nothing wrong with singing love songs and I hold nothing against secular musicians singing about love,” he said.
Besides, Yaw Sarpong revealed his undying love for songs composed by rapper Sarkodie adding that he’s looking forward to collaborating with him someday.
“Sarkodie is one of the musicians I admire so much and the two of us are in talks for collaboration soon,” he disclosed to Showbiz
As a reminder, Yaw Sarpong who has been in the music industry over four (4) decades is well-known for songs like Wayɛ Awie, Esther, Judas, Yenka Nkyere Agya (Joseph) and Hawa. More importantly, Yaw Sarpong is also preparing for the release of his 26th album dubbed ‘The Nine’.
