Member of Parliament for the Odododiodoo constituency, Nii Lante Vanderpuye has stated that the entire chain of command at the Ghana Football Association must be dissolved immediately in order to cure the menace of corruption at the association.
Mr Vanderpuye was reacting to Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ latest documentary on corruption in football and politics, where several high ranking members of the Ghana FA, including the President Kwesi Nyantakyi, were implicated in acts of corruption.
Speaking to exclusively to Happy FM’s Mac-Paradise Okocha about the way forward for the FA, the former Minister of Youth and Sports said, “First we must dissolve the GFA immediately. Secondly, all those involved, the security service must start working on them appropriately, immediately we must set in a new date for elections for new FA’s.”
He added that, an interim committee should be put in place so we can restructure; “If we dissolve the FA and set interim people to manage the affairs of the association it will be hard for FIFA to take hard decision against Ghana.”
Nii Lante, who was constantly at loggerheads with the GFA boss during his time at the Sports Ministry for not being “transparent and accountable”, thinks Ghana football’s problem is not with Nyantakyi alone but there are still some mafias who are in there appointed by Nyantakyi must also be dealt with.
