Black Maidens captain Mukarama Abdullai is optimistic of their chances ahead of their 2018 FIFA U-17 World Cup after drawing Uruguay, New Zealand and Finland in the competition.
The Maidens have been pitted against host nation Uruguay, New Zealand and debutantes Finland in Group A of the biennial tournament – which is scheduled to kick off from November 13 – December 1.
Despite the team being paired against host country, Mukarama who was very instrumental in Ghana’s qualifying campaign, expressed her upbeat about their chances of making a great impact in the competition.
Speaking on Happy FM’s Wamputu Sports, Mukarama said, “ The moment I saw the draw, my initial reaction was wow the team is out but I am positive we will survive this and make history for ourselves in the tournament. The trophy is our main target.”
Mukarama finished as the top scorer in the African qualifiers with 12 goals in four matches.
