Board Chairman of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Sammy Awuku has commended President Nana Akufo-Addo for nominating Martin Amidu for the Special Prosecutor (SP) position to deal with the   of corruption in the country.
According to Sammy Awuku, Martin Amidu’s track record puts him in high repute for the Special Prosecutor position.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo announced Mr Amidu’s appointment -subject to parliamentary approval- at the Flagstaff House in Accra on January 11, 2018.
Speaking on Happy FM’s ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ show  hosted by Kwame Afrifa-Mensah, the out-going National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) said Martin Amidu, popularly known as ‘Citizen Vigilante’, has proved beyond doubt that he will do a good job as Special Prosecutor.
“On some of the cases he was flawed on as Attorney-General (A-G), he mobilized resources and proceeded to court where he had rulings in his favor and for the country,” Sammy Awuku stated.
He added that when Martin Amidu was unveiled as Special Prosecutor, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and civil society groups hailed him.
“We, in the NPP, were the ones expected to say that the President should have taken someone who will have pity on us. But the President in his wisdom chose someone who is not part of the NPP, meaning that when you are in trouble, you dare not say you are going to beg,” he said.
Sammy Awuku however, cautioned members of the governing NPP who have intentions of misappropriating state funds to desist from it because the Special Prosecutor will have no mercy on any of them.
“When the president came to meet us at the National Council of the party, he told us that under his tenure you are not allowed to misbehave.
So if you go and misappropriate Ghana’s money or you are caught up in any corruption saga, then you have to know that the Special prosecutor will deal with you.
This is a wake-up call for all appointees of the NPP,” he disclosed.
