The Vice President of the Ghana Football Association, George Akwesi Afriyie says they are yet to receive any letter from the ministry concerning their supposed cancellation of the Black Stars friendly game against Bafana Bafana.
In an exclusive interview on Nyhira, Nii Lante Vanderpuye declared that due to the amount the country will make from the friendly game, the ministry has decided to stop the team from going to South Africa for the game.
However,George Afriyie has revealed that he only heard of the minister’s suggestions on air, but they are yet to receive an official letter from the ministry.
“We’ve not had any official letter in regards to what the minister said. I only heard it on the radio yesterday that he’ll not sanction this match, which I think is unfortunate.” He told Happy FM Thursday morning.
“I believe as minister if you don’t understand something concerning the Black Stars, the best people to contact is the FA rather than go on the radio station. If his argument is that the game will not benefit us economically because of the money we’ll get from the game isn’t enough, I don’t believe so.” George Afriyie added.
“I think the media is the cause of all this. How can a radio station call someone who doesn’t have any information on the Black Stars, when there people who have managed the team are there to be called for more explanation. I challenge anyone who says Zambia got $1 Million from the friendly game they played against Japan.”
“I don’t want to respond to his assertion on this matter directly on radio. I’ll engage and have dialogue with him today on this issue.”
