Aduana Stars shot-stopper Stephen Adams has been voted the Worst Goalkeeper in the 2016 Ghana Premier League in Happy FM’s Golden Bin Awards (Bindone d’Oro) following his unimpressive performance for his club.
Adams, who was part of the Black Stars squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup staged in Brazil, garnered a landslide 56% of the total votes cast to emerge as the maiden winner of this award.
Stepehen Adams, 27, who was Ghana’s first choice keeper at the 2014 Championship of Africa Nations (CHAN), came up tops ahead of Medeama SC’s Muntari Tagoe, Hearts of Oak’s Soulama Abdoulaye, Eric Ofori Antwi of Kotoko and Inter Allies duo Osei Kwame and Kwame Baah.
Soulama Abdoulaye and Muntari Tagoe both polled 22% of the total votes cast while Eric Ofori Antwi, Osei Kwame and Kwame Baah got no votes.
Happy FM’s Golden Bin Awards (Bindone d’Oro) is meant to motivate players with exceptional qualities and abilities, who failed to live up to expectation in the year under review, to lift up their game and put in a better performance the following season.
The final shortlist of six was done through votes cast by fans with inputs from some coaches and journalists. However, voting for the winner was solely from fans.
There will be awards for the Worst Defender, Worst Midfielder, Worst Striker, Overall Worst Player, Worst CEO, Worst Match Commissioner and Worst Referee.
