Ghana’s rising boxing star, Holy Dorgbetor, better known as “The Jaw Breaker,” is celebrating a major milestone after his inspiring trip to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for the WBC Boxing Grand Prix.
The undefeated IBF Africa Featherweight Champion (14-0-1) stood tall as the only Ghanaian boxer to advance past the round of 32, defeating Ukraine’s Oleksandr Solomennikov in the Featherweight division.
Out of five Ghanaian boxers who participated, he was the sole fighter to claim victory at this stage, while teammates Shakul Samed, Samuel Quaye, and Enoch Allotey exited the competition. Gabriel Coffie remains on standby for future bouts.
Currently training under Coach Laryea, popularly known as “Lion,” at The Gym in Accra, Dorgbetor remains focused on his ultimate dream—becoming a world champion and making the people of the Volta Region proud.
He looks ahead to June with renewed determination, aiming to progress even further and reach the final rounds of the prestigious Grand Prix.
The WBC Grand Prix serves as a vital platform for identifying top talents and giving boxers a chance to showcase their skills at an elite level.
