The Ashanti Region Anti-Galamsey Taskforce conducted a dawn operation in the Adansi enclave, resulting in the capture of 13 excavators and several arrests at illegal mining sites.
Captain (Retired) John Kwame Jabari, who leads the taskforce, hailed the mission as their most successful effort to date, with all targeted individuals and equipment seized.
This achievement came from improved operational strategies, designed to safeguard waterways and protect cocoa farms from damage.
The taskforce has also reclaimed forest reserves that had been affected by illegal mining. Local residents played a crucial role by reporting unlawful activities, enabling the taskforce to act decisively.
With ongoing warnings to perpetrators to cease their activities, the taskforce remains steadfast in its fight against galamsey and its commitment to preserving the environment and Ghana’s resources.
