The Minister of Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor has revealed that National Security operatives have retrieved 40 of the missing containers belonging to the Electricity Company of Ghana.
According to John Jinapor, the containers were traced to a warehouse owned by an Indian national at Kpone near Tema.
The Minister stated that the said Indian national has been arrested and will assist investigators in tracing the remaining containers.
“The important issue is the whereabouts of these containers. The briefing I received this morning indicates that about 40 of them have already been traced to a warehouse in Kpone, which belongs to an Indian national. All 40 containers have been confiscated and moved to a secure location,” Mr Jinapor stated.
John Jinapor claimed that the Indian national told National Security Operatives that the containers were sold to him in 2024 and they have other locations.
“This is now a subject of investigation, and the law enforcement agencies will make sure the law takes its course.”
“They have identified other locations and are following up to recover all the containers and ensure the perpetrators are prosecuted before competent courts,” he affirmed.
