
Management of Ghana Water Limited (GWL), Ashanti Region, has announced a temporary shutdown of the Barekese Water Treatment Plant.
This maintenance exercise, according the the company is slated to occur from Monday, March 17th to Wednesday, March 19th, 2025.
The shutdown is to facilitate the installation of new interconnection pipelines and foot valves at the Suame roundabout, which is part of an essential upgrade to enhance water supply capacity within the Kumasi Metropolis.
In a statement, GWL acknowledged the inconvenience this may cause to affected communities, including Offinso, the entire Kumasi Metropolis, and its environs.
However, the Management assured residents that their team of engineers would work tirelessly to complete the project within the scheduled timeframe.
“This measure is in line with GWL’s commitment to enhance the water supply capacity from the Barekese Water Treatment Plant to improve water service delivery and address the supply challenges in the metropolis”.
