The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Nanton Constituency has suspended 34 members due to alleged misconduct during the 2024 general elections.
Among those suspended are polling station executives, electoral area coordinators, and constituency executives, who are accused of supporting the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate instead of the NPP’s candidate.
The allegations against the members include campaigning for the NDC, distributing items for the opposition party, and creating roadblocks on election day to obstruct voters.
A letter signed by Abukari Inusah, the NPP Nanton Constituency Chairman, confirmed the suspension. It noted that the decision was made unanimously during a meeting on January 23, 2025, attended by the Council of Elders, the Council of Patrons, and Constituency Executives.
The party is yet to provide further information on the next actions to be taken regarding the suspended members.
