The Convention People’s Party (CPP) has called on Ghanaians to support President John Dramani Mahama’s vision for resetting the country, emphasizing the need for national reflection, review, and the rebuilding of the economy.
The party stated that if successfully implemented, the initiative outlined by President Mahama would benefit all Ghanaians, regardless of political affiliation, beliefs, or ideology.
In a statement released on Thursday, March 6, the CPP praised the president for his decision to reduce the scale of the 68th Independence Anniversary celebrations, saving the nation GHS 13.5 million, which they noted represents 90% of the previous cost.
The CPP pointed out that during the 66th Independence Anniversary in 2023, it had called for a boycott of Independence Day celebrations until the country was in a better state.
They also recalled that as far back as the 55th Independence Anniversary in 2012, prominent CPP members had launched similar campaigns, both on social media and in the streets, advocating for change.
Additionally, the CPP highlighted a key moment during the recent National Economic Dialogue, where speakers acknowledged that the economic success of the First Republic, led by the CPP, remains unmatched to this day and should serve as a model for the nation’s future progress.
