Black Stars captain, Andre Dede Ayew has revealed that he is not yet ready to hang his boot on the international stage.
Andre Ayew has often been urged to retire from the Black Stars after he led the team to two disastrous African Cup of Nations campaigns in Cameroon and Ivory Coast in 2021 and 2023 respectively.
The captain has also been left out of the Black Stars squad by Otto Addo recently and didn’t play a single game in the 2025 African Cup of Nations qualifiers where Ghana failed to qualify for the tournament in Morocco.
Despite the public commentaries, Andre Ayew ahead of the March international break has said in an interview with the BBC that he is not ready to retire from the Black Stars.
When quizzed about his future with the national team during an interview with BBC Sport Africa, he responded, “I love what I’m doing, and I’m not ready to stop.”
With André Ayew in good form for Le Havre in the 2024/25 season, scoring a couple of goals, there are reports that Black Stars head coach Otto Addo is considering giving him a call-up for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
