The Goaso Traditional Council has announced a ban on Valentine’s Day celebrations in Goaso in the Asunafo North Municipality of the Ahafo Region. The directive applies to all activities planned for February 14, 2025.
During a press conference, the council explained that the decision is not intended to infringe on the rights of citizens but to honor and respect the late Omanhene of Goaso, Nana Akwasi Bosomprah, whose one-week observation is scheduled for the same day.
Nana Akwasi Bosomprah, who served as chief for 17 years, passed away in December 2024 after a prolonged illness. His death was officially announced by Otumfuo’s linguist, Kyeame Antwi Boasiako, at an Asanteman Council meeting on December 16, 2024.
The Traditional Council issued a strong warning to individuals and groups planning Valentine’s Day events in Goaso to cancel or reschedule them. They emphasized that anyone who disregards this directive will face consequences.
The council called on Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and other chiefs to honour the late Goasohene during this solemn occasion.
