Nsoatreman FC supporters have issued a strong statement condemning the violence that marred a recent football match and called for justice for Pooley, whose family has been deeply affected by the incident.
The supporters emphasized that football is a beautiful game meant to unite people, promote teamwork, and inspire passion and violence has no place in the sport.
In a heartfelt message, the supporters expressed their condolences to the family and loved ones of Pooley, while also clarifying that they hold no grudge against Kumasi Asante Kotoko, their opponents in the match. They highlighted the long-standing positive relationship between the two clubs, noting that Nsoatreman FC has played against Kotoko twice in the past two seasons without any incidents.
The supporters described last Sunday’s incident as a disgrace to the entire town of Nsoatre, embarrassing the club and its fans. They pledged their full cooperation with the Ghana Police Service to investigate the matter thoroughly and ensure that the culprit is identified and dealt with according to the law.
In a show of remorse, the supporters apologized to all other clubs, stakeholders, and the football community for the embarrassment caused by the unfortunate incident. They vowed not to rest until justice is served, both physically and spiritually, expressing their trust in the Ghana Police Service and the gods of their motherland, Nsoatre.
The statement, signed by Nana Gyamfi Kumayini, the supporters’ chairman, and Nana Adomah, the supporters’ secretary, also called on anyone with evidence or vital information to come forward and assist in the investigation. They urged individuals to contact the Ghana Police, the management of Nsoatreman FC, Kumasi Asante Kotoko, or the supporters’ leaders.
The supporters reiterated their commitment to peace and fair play, emphasizing that they will not allow football to be used as a tool to break relationships or promote violence. They expressed gratitude to Asante Kotoko for honoring their previous invitations, including a match with Baffour Soccer Academy organized by Honorable Baffour Awuah.
