Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has accused the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) team, led by Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, of conducting drone surveillance over his private properties.
In an interview with the media on Sunday, January 2, the Member of Parliament for Effutu constituency stated that his associates had reported multiple instances of suspicious drone activity, but he initially chose to remain silent. However, he emphasized that he had nothing to hide, asserting that all his assets were acquired legally.
“I was aware that these ORAL guys have been flying drones in Winneba over my property, I kept quiet, I managed it. They went to my beachfront property, mounted a drone, and flew it from the community center near the ‘nshorna.’ My boys saw it, I told them to ignore it,” he said.
His comments come in response to Mr. Ablakwa’s disclosure of details about his properties during a vetting session on Friday, January 31.
Afenyo-Markin further alleged that the drone surveillance extended beyond Winneba to his residence in Abelemkpe and other properties.
“In Abelemkpe, you’ll be there in the morning and you’ll see drones flying. The policemen have seen it, they told me, but I said ignore it. Sometimes, early in the morning, we see drones behind the rail line, and I know they are spying on my house. What business do drones have at the Minority Leader’s residence?” he asked.
Alexander Afenyo-Markin strongly denied allegations that his lands in Winneba are state-owned, calling such claims a misrepresentation of the facts.
