The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has issued a strong warning to the Finance Minister, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, over delays in presenting the Expenditure in Advance of Appropriation for January to March 2025.
The warning follows the Finance Minister’s failure to submit the document to Parliament on December 19 for consideration and approval.
The Expenditure in Advance of Appropriation, once approved, will ensure funding for government operations during the first quarter of 2025.
Members of the Minority have voiced concerns, accusing the government of deliberately delaying the submission to undermine parliamentary processes and potentially disrupt government operations.
In response, the Second Deputy Majority Whip, Habib Iddrisu, assured Parliament that the mini-budget would be presented on Friday, December 22.
Speaker Bagbin underscored the critical need for the timely approval of the mini-budget to prevent disruptions to the incoming National Democratic Congress (NDC) government. He urged parliamentarians to work collaboratively to facilitate the swift passage of the document.
