Parliament is set to reconvene today, Monday, December 16, 2024, at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).
This marks the first sitting of the House following the December 7 general elections.
The session comes after an official circular issued by the Speaker’s Office on December 11 confirmed the venue for the meeting. Earlier, on December 2, Speaker Alban Bagbin had summoned Parliament to resume its functions, highlighting the significance of the session in the context of recent political events.
In the lead-up to the elections, the Majority Caucus, under the leadership of Alexander Afenyo-Markin, had called for Parliament to be recalled to address pressing legislative matters. However, the Speaker maintained that parliamentary activities would remain suspended until the conclusion of the elections.
