The Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Omane Boamah, has emphasized the party’s successful efforts in highlighting and addressing electoral irregularities during the recent elections.
He highlighted the importance of vigilance in maintaining the integrity of the electoral process and ensuring a transparent and fair election.
Dr. Boamah noted that one of the key interventions was focused on addressing suspicious activities in the industrial region. Through careful monitoring and analysis, the NDC uncovered nearly 500,000 questionable entries in the voter data, which could have seriously impacted the election results. The intervention was crucial in preventing these discrepancies from affecting the integrity of the electoral process.
Speaking to the media after the official declaration of results, Dr. Omane Boamah attributed this to the party’s quick response and strategic oversight, several other potential frauds were identified and rectified. Dr. Boamah referred to the party’s efforts as an “eagle-eyed” approach, ensuring that illegal activities such as data manipulation were exposed and corrected. In one notable case, the NDC prevented an inflated voter turnout figure of over a million in certain regions from swaying the election results.
He also addressed concerns about the central region, which has faced challenges with electoral fraud in previous years. He pointed out that while the situation remained complex, the NDC’s interventions were instrumental in managing and mitigating these issues.
