The Vice Presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has called on voters in the Guan Constituency to hold the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) accountable for denying them representation in the Eighth Parliament.

Speaking in Likpe as part of her campaign tour of the Oti Region, she emphasized that the upcoming elections present an opportunity for constituents to express their disapproval of the NPP’s actions.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang highlighted the challenges faced by the people of Santrokofi, Akpafu, Likpe, and Lolobi (SALL) traditional areas, attributing their lack of parliamentary representation to the actions of the NPP. She described the situation as an injustice that has caused significant pain to the community. She urged voters to seize the opportunity to address the issue during the December 7 polls.

She criticized the NPP for engaging in campaign activities in the constituency despite allegedly neglecting the people’s right to representation for four years. She also noted that the legal efforts by the NDC to resolve the issue had been unsuccessful, but stressed that the upcoming election offers a chance for the constituents to take corrective action.

In addition to denying the Guan Constituency representation, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang accused the NPP government of neglecting the area’s development. She cited the lack of essential infrastructure, including roads, schools, water, and health facilities, as evidence of the government’s poor performance.

She also alleged that the NPP, in an attempt to sway voters, is distributing money, food, and other items. Prof. Opoku-Agyemang encouraged constituents to accept these items but remain resolute in voting for the NDC’s presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama, and the party’s parliamentary candidates to ensure meaningful development for the area.
