Former Board Member of Accra Hearts of Oak, Frank Nelson has said that the club is suffering because they don’t have enough quality players in the team.
Hearts Oak are currently struggling in the ongoing 2024/2025 Ghana Premier League after winning only two games in 8 games and also losing at home to Baseke Holy Stars and Bibiani Gold Stars.
With fingers being pointed at the leadership of the club and head coach Aboubakar Ouattara, Frank Nelson who is the second majority shareholder of the club says the problem is their recruitment style.
“I won’t blame the coach or the players,” Nelson explained. “We need to examine the root cause of the problem, particularly in terms of recruitment.
“We should prioritize players who have proven themselves, not those from Division One or Two,” he advised. “Accra Hearts of Oak has a history of excellence, and we shouldn’t settle for mediocrity.
“It’s essential to refine our recruitment strategy to bring in players who can compete at a high level,” Frank Nelson told journalists.
Accra Hearts of Oak are currently 12th on the Ghana Premier League table with 9 points after match day 8.
