The Accra Circuit Court has , discharged four more Democracy Hub protesters, Cedric Bansah, Emmanuel Offei, Nana Amo Mensah Prempeh, and Thomas Yeboah after the state dropped the charges against them.
However, the prosecution has filed new charges to replace the initial ones from September 25. This latest development brings the total number of discharged protesters to 11, following a similar decision on Tuesday, October 22, where seven protesters were discharged.
The Democracy Hub protests, which took place from September 21 to September 23, saw a total of 53 protesters arrested. The protests were marked by chaotic scenes and lawlessness, with protesters blocking major roads and damaging properties.
The court is still processing and hearing cases related to the demonstrations. The case has been adjourned to November 21.
