Vice President and presidential candidate of the NPP Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has mocked the National Democratic Congress (NDC) after the Supreme Court’s decision to stay the execution of the Speaker of Parliament’s ruling, which declared four seats vacant.
Addressing the NDC MPs, he remarked that if they want to form the majority in Parliament, they should contest and win the elections.
Speaking to supporters during his campaign at Nkawkaw on Saturday October 19th he said, “Just yesterday they had the 24-hour majority, the shortest-lived majority that I know of in history. If you want the majority, come to the polling stations, the constituency, win an election and then go to parliament, you can’t stay in parliament and manufacture majority for yourselves”.
On Friday, October 18, the Supreme Court instructed Parliament to recognize and allow the four MPs to continue serving as lawmakers until the case is resolved.
This decision came after the Speaker had declared the four parliamentary seats vacant on Thursday, October 17.
