President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has fired back at NDC Presidential Candidate John Mahama over his claim that securing the 8th position on the 2024 presidential ballot guarantees his victory.

Mr. Mahama had confidently declared that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has secured the number 8 and questioned the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) campaign slogan “breaking the right”. Mr. Mahama said that to picking the number 8 spot poses a challenge to the NPP as they cannot break what they don’t have.

Akufo-Addo playfully mocked Mahama’s claim while engaging with chiefs in the Upper East region, saying, “Breaking the 8 and having number 8, that’s not a good sign at all.” He emphasized that the NPP’s aim is to break the 8, and since NDC picked the 8, it’s simple and NPP is confident in its ability to secure victory.

Akufo-Addo also praised Dr. Bawumia’s loyalty and commitment, saying for nearly 20 years, he hasn’t had one day to doubt Bawumia’s loyalty or commitment. He urged the chiefs and people of the Upper East Region to support Bawumia in the upcoming elections.
