Concerned Citizens to petition Attorney General on day one of 3-day demo

The Convener of the Concerned Citizens Against Galamsey, Brownson Adatsi, has announced that today’s protest will end with the submission of a petition to the Attorney General.

Adatsi explained that the group is petitioning the Attorney General to address the unconstitutional actions of state authorities and to ensure the release of protesters who were detained during the democracy Hub demonstrations.

He emphasized that while their concerns cover illegal mining, constitutional violations, and the detentions, today’s petition is focused solely on ending unconstitutional conduct and securing the release of the protesters.

The group is staging a three-day demonstration, calling for the immediate release of the 53 anti-galamsey protesters arrested during the Democracy Hub protest. The march will pass through key locations, including Legon Stadium, Okponglo Traffic Light, Shiashie, Shangri-La, and the Airport Traffic Light.

The Ghana Police Service on the other hand has cautioned the group that they will disperse the crowd if there is any threat to public peace.
