The Ghana Police Service has refuted claims that Democracy Hub protesters in their custody were denied medical care.
In a statement released on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, the police clarified that two suspects involved in the Democracy Hub demonstration were provided medical attention at the Police Hospital after they complained of feeling unwell.
The statement explained that on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, suspect Fanny Otoo reported feeling indisposed as the suspects were being prepared for court. He was subsequently taken to the Police Hospital in Accra, where doctors attended to him and later admitted him for further treatment.
Similarly, suspect Oliver Barker-Vormawor was also transported to the Police Hospital after reporting ill late on the night of Tuesday, September 24, 2024. Following an assessment by doctors, he was admitted for further treatment.
The Police assured the public that at no time were these suspects denied medical care.
