The Ghana police has arrested members of the Democracy Hub group at the 37 Roundabout during the second day of their three-day protest against illegal mining (galamsey).
The arrests followed a police warning instructing protesters not to gather at the same location as the previous day.
Although authorities have not yet released an official statement regarding the exact number of detainees or the charges they may face, it is estimated that around 20 protesters were taken into custody.
The arrests have ignited widespread discussion on social media, with many demanding clarity on the situation and others raising concerns about the right to peaceful assembly.
Police have also taken inventory of mobile phones confiscated from the detained protesters.
Traffic at the 37 Roundabout is moving smoothly, as compared to Day One, September 21, when protesters blocked all roads around the intersection, causing significant inconvenience for motorists.
