Ghana Premier League side, Hearts of Oak have selected the University of Ghana Stadium as their new home ground due to the unexpected closure of the Accra Sports Stadium.
The National Sports Authority (NSA) shut down the Accra Sports Stadium for maintenance after facing criticism regarding the poor condition of the pitch.
This decision comes after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) withdrew approval for the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi to host national team matches, citing non-compliance with Category Three standards.
Hearts will share the University of Ghana Stadium with Legon Cities, Dreams FC, and Accra Lions until the NSA completes renovations at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Originally, the Phobians had planned to use Baba Yara Stadium for the 2024-25 season, but with it’s current unavailability, they have turned to the Legon venue.
Their next home match is set for Sunday, September 21, 2024, against Bechem United, as they look to secure their first win of the season.
