Deputy Director of Elections for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mahdi Jibril, has emphasized that since 1992, it has never occurred that a political party receives a soft copy of the voters’ register, only to find discrepancies in the printed version.
He suggested that this indicates either tampering with the data after printing or that a different dataset was provided.
On Tuesday, August 27, 2024, the NDC formally requested an urgent meeting with the Electoral Commission (EC) to address concerns stemming from the recently concluded voter exhibition exercise.
The party aims to discuss significant discrepancies discovered during the exercise.
In an interview with Bismark Brown on Epa Hoa Da Ben on Happy FM, Mahdi Jibril revealed that the EC only responded today, agreeing to meet with them on September 6, 2024. He expressed suspicion that the EC might be using the time to correct the issues.
He highlighted that the soft copies of the voters’ register provided to the NDC differed from those displayed at the exhibition centers.
He revealed that issues included unauthorized transfers, discrepancies in voter numbers, and instances where voters could check their details via short code but couldn’t find their names at the centers.
