The Ghana Tourism Authority on Friday, August 23, 2024 officially launched the sixth edition of December in GH events and festivities calendar.
The launch, which took place at the Castle Gardens, Osu saw its inaugural appearance in 2019 as part of the many initiatives under the Ghana Tourism Authority’s headlining program – Beyond The Return.
The event kicked off with a wave of excitement and anticipation from stakeholders in the tourism sector along with tourism fanatics and people from the diaspora to mark another edition of December in GH.
The Minister of Tourism Arts and Culture, Andrew Agyapa Mercer, officially declared the launch of this year’s December in GH events calendar. He explained how thrilled he was to be a part of this year events. He commended the able leadership of the Chief Executive
Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority Akwasi Agyeman to place Ghana on the world map.
Patrons of the event were captured with a warm welcome address delivered by the Deputy CEO of General Services for Ghana Tourism Authority, Ben Anane Nsiah who explained December in GH as an initiative which has made Ghana a global entertainment hub for the last quarter of the year since 2019 till date. “December in GH is designed to leverage on our cultural vibrancy. Over the past few years, we have made Ghana the entertainment capital of the world in the last quarter of the year.”
All attendees were given a brief concept of December in GH during the unveiling of the events calendar by Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Akwasi Agyeman.
During the unveiling, he applauded the efforts of the Beyond The Return Secretariat and all other individuals who have partnered to make Ghana a global destination for the past few years. “All events that are selected as part of the December in GH events are selected from a first call of entry which is done during the first quarter of each year and a second one around this period; they all undergo the necessary processes and deliberations by a steering committee to ensure that all events lined up on the calendar are successful and enjoyable for all people who attend.”
He encouraged all Ghanaians to join in this year’s mission to give Ghana a global appeal and make all events lined up from sceneries and education through to night life and recreation a success.
