Member of Parliament for North Tongu Constituency, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has called for the dismissal of the Minister for Employment and Labour Relations, Ignatius Baffour Awuah, and the Minister for Food and Agriculture, Mr. Bryan Acheampong, following the controversy surrounding the sale of a 60% stake in four SSNIT hotels.
Mr. Bryan Acheampong’s company, Rock City Hotel Limited, initially won the bid but withdrew after organized labor declared a nationwide strike, leading SSNIT to cancel the sale.
In an X post on Monday, July 15, 2024, Ablakwa emphasized that the strike by labor unions underscores the power of the people and could have been avoided if not for perceived government intransigence, belligerence, and disrespect for citizens.
He called for the immediate dissolution of the SSNIT and NPRA boards and management, along with the dismissal of the Agriculture and Employment ministers.
“Let today’s industrial action serve as an eloquent reminder to all Ghanaian leaders that real power belongs to the people.
You mess with the people at you own peril,” he wrote.
