The former minority leader Haruna Iddrisu has raised the need to invite the Inspector General of Police and the minister for interior to brief Parliament on preparedness and deployment of security personnel to supervise the 2024 elections.
” Mr Speaker, we have a crucial parliamentary and presidential elections on 7 December , it’s not Just the electoral commission, the IGP together with interior minister must also come to this House, because MPs will be in their constituencies to battle for their seats and presidency during recess. Therefore they must address as on their readiness”.
The Tamale South legislature, indicated that the electoral commission should let Parliament know its financial requirements for the conduct of the general elections before the Mid-year budget review.
This will help the house to know if government through the ministry of finance has met the financial requirements of the commission.
