Former Black Stars skipper and coach of Division One campaigners Dreams FC Charles Kwabena Akunnor has intimated that he is joining beleaguered AshantiGold SC on loan as head coach until the end of the season.
The ex Hearts of Oak gaffer, who has a contract with Dreams FC, sees this as an opportunity for him to rescue the club that he played for between 1990-1992 from the claws of relegation.
Confirming news of his appointment to Happy FM, C.K Akunnor disclosed that he is going to work with some former players of the club to help extricate the club from relegation.
“I can say I’m going on loan from Dreams FC to Ashgold and the board of Dreams have agreed to request of Ashgold. I am joining them until the end of the season. We’ll be finalizing the deal today for me to take over as head coach. I admit it’s an arduous challenge especially looking at where Ashgold are on the league log but I see it as an opportunity to give back to the club that nurtured me from 1990 to 1992.” C.K Akunnor told Happy FM.
Ashgold have been without a substantive coach since the resignation of Bashir Hayford from the post a couple of weeks ago.
