The Ghana Police Service has apprehended nine individuals nationwide for disseminating false information about the supposed vanishing of their genitals, causing public alarm and unwarranted assaults on innocent individuals.
Following police investigations, including medical assessments, it was revealed that all allegations were unfounded.
Six individuals were detained in Kasoa, Central Region, two in Ashaiman, Greater Accra Region, and one in Nkawkaw, Eastern Region, for falsely asserting the disappearance of their genitals.
Among them, five were presented before the court, with three remanded into police custody and two granted bail.
The remaining individuals are under Police inquiry bail and will face court proceedings soon.
The Ghana Police Service expresses worry over the rising incidents of individuals making baseless claims about their genitals’ disappearance, often leading to mob violence against innocent bystanders.
The Police Service urges the public to refrain from engaging in such criminal behavior, which has the potential to harm innocent individuals and disrupt public peace.
