The Deputy Finance Minister and Member of Parliament for Ejisu, John Kumah, has tragically passed away at the age of 45 after battling a brief illness, as confirmed by sources close to the family.

He died in the early hours of Thursday, March 7, in Germany, where he had been receiving medical treatment for some time.

John Ampontuah Kumah, affectionately known as Lawyer John Kumah, was renowned for dedication to job creation, inspiring hope among both the young and old in his constituency in Ejisu, located in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.

Before entering politics, John Kumah made significant contributions to the business and legal sectors. He served as the founding Managing Director of Majak Associates Ltd, a prominent building and construction firm with projects across Ghana.

Later, he founded Aduaprokye Chambers, where he served as the Managing Partner before his appointment as CEO of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP) in 2017.

During his tenure at NEIP, John Kumah spearheaded the training of 45,000 start-ups and supported 10,000 beneficiaries through the Presidential Business Support Programme, resulting in the creation of numerous job opportunities for Ghanaian youth nationwide.

John Kumah’s dedication and leadership were recognized when he was adjudged the most Efficient, Prominent Government Appointee in 2018 and listed among President Akufo Addo’s top 20 Most Humble and Respectful Appointees in 2019.

As a loyal member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kumah actively contributed to the party’s grassroots efforts since 1992. He founded the Young Patriots, a youth political activist group within the NPP, and served on the party’s Communication Team.

In addition to his political and professional achievements, Kumah was deeply committed to serving his constituents in Ejisu. He successfully secured funding for various infrastructure and job creation projects in the constituency, fulfilling promises made during his tenure.

Described as a unifier and peacemaker, John Kumah leaves behind a legacy of service and dedication to his community. He is survived by his wife, Apostle Mrs. Lilian Kumah, founder and Senior Pastor of Disciple of Christ Ministries Worldwide, and their six children.
