President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has for the first time reacted to Ghana’s humiliation in the 2023 African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
The Black Stars for the second consecutive time were eliminated from the group stages which resulted in public uproar.
President Akufo-Addo revealed that he had high hopes for the team ahead of the tournament but it was unfortunate that they couldn’t meet the expectations of Ghanaians.
He highlighted that the technical team and the players genuinely wanted to fight and win for the country but their efforts just couldn’t match the competitors.
He also said captain Andre Dede Ayew’s apology to the country was genuine and Ghanaians should forgive the team.
