The Office of the Special Prosecutor, under the leadership of Mr. Kissi Agyebeng, announced its admission as a member of the Global Operational Network of Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Authorities (GlobE Network).

This significant development was established by the guardian of the United Nations Convention against Corruption, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). The GlobE Network serves as a platform that facilitates, promotes, and supports cross-border cooperation to eradicate corruption on a global scale.

The inclusion in the GlobE Network marks a crucial step for the Office in fostering collaboration with international counterparts, enhancing its capacity to combat corruption, and sharing best practices in law enforcement.

In a parallel move, the Office unveiled ambitious plans to extend its presence beyond the capital with the initiation of preparatory works for regional offices in Kumasi, Takoradi, and Tamale.

In an official press statement, the OSP stated, “The Office has started preparatory works to open regional offices in Kumasi, Takoradi, and Tamale. This strategic initiative reflects the Office’s commitment to extending its reach and impact, ensuring that the fight against corruption is not confined to specific regions but resonates throughout the nation.”

The office added,
“Despite attempts to discredit the Office and criticisms from those impacted by anti-corruption measures, the Office remains resolute and undeterred in its fight to render corruption costly and unattractive”

The OSP has presented a comprehensive Half-Yearly Report, covering the period from July 1, 2023, to December 31, 202. The office highlighted its intensified operations aligned with its four-fold mandate: investigating corruption, prosecuting offenders, managing assets, and preventing corruption.

The report showcased notable achievements, including the initiation of three major criminal cases and the successful closure of various investigations.

The global recognition and regional expansion signal a new chapter for the Office of the Special Prosecutor, reinforcing its commitment to the relentless pursuit of corruption eradication both within the borders of Ghana and on the international stage.
