Ghana Premier League club, Legon Cities became the target of armed robbers while returning to Accra after a league match against Samartex on Wednesday,1 October. This harrowing incident unfolded at approximately 11 PM on that same day on Bibiani-Kumasi highway.
The perpetrators vandalized the driver’s side of the team bus, and looted the possessions of the players and officials, including their mobile phones and laptops. Unfortunately, Osman Amadu, one of the players, sustained injuries during the ordeal.
Nicholas Mensah, a player from Legon Cities, shared his distressing experience, stating, “There are no casualties, but they took everything from us,” as reported by Kickgh.
This incident is not an isolated case in the Ghana Premier League. Other clubs such as Ashantigold, Asante Kotoko, and Wa All Stars have fallen victim to similar armed robberies in recent times. Even a Women’s Premier League team, Savannah Ladies, experienced a similar attack last season.
