An unprecedented initiative aimed at equipping the officers with skills to be competitive and stay ahead of the technological wave.

Accra, 11 October 2023. SES HD PLUS, the leading high definition (HD) satellite broadcast service provider in Ghana has successfully concluded a comprehensive installer training program for 80 female officers of the Ghana Prisons Service.

The female prison officers training program, first of its kind in Ghana aligns with the company’s commitment to making HD quality TV viewing experience, accessible to every Ghanaian and creating local employment whether as a full time activity or as an additional source of income.

The initiative was also to ensure that HD+ users have their HD+ Devices and accompanying satellite equipment professionally installed by accredited installers and enjoy reliable and professional after sales service.

Speaking at the training program held at the Prisons Headquarters on Wednesday; 11th October 2023, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of SES HD Plus; Adelaide Abbiw-Williams thanked the leadership of the Prison service for collaborating and partnering to successfully initiate this program. “I hereby express my profound gratitude to the leadership of the Ghana Prison Service for partnering with us on this initiative. Your commitment to empowering your female officers through technical training is a commendable step towards gender inclusivity, professional development, and empowerment. At SES HD PLUS GH, we believe that by providing women with the necessary skills and knowledge, we can foster greater diversity and excellence in traditionally male-dominated fields, such as satellite installation”, she said.

She also commended the participants for their participation and willingness to learn. “Ladies, I want to commend your dedication and commitment to this groundbreaking satellite installation training, the first of its kind in Ghana. Your presence here is a testament to your resilience and the strength you bring to this field. As women prison officers, you’ve already demonstrated remarkable courage, and now, by taking on this training, you’re pushing boundaries even further. Remember, you are pioneers, and your success here will inspire others to follow in your footsteps.

Commenting on the benefit of the training, DOP Baffoe -Bonnie ; the Director of Prisons at the Ghana Prisons Service noted that the initiative will boost the confidence of the female officers and also provide them with an opportunity to earn income by utilising their personal time. She further encouraged the trainees to focus on the training and harness the potential thereof. She said, “I thereby encourage very woman present here to grasp every knowledge being imparted into them since it will go a long way to help them not only for today but in the future”.

The successful completion of this training serves as a testament to the commitment of SES HD PLUS in promoting quality TV viewing. In May 2023, the company accomplished the training of 2000 youth in the first half of 2023, bringing the total number of trainees to an impressive 10,000 since the inception of the HD+ service in Ghana. SES HD Plus Ltd believes that empowering locals with professional installer training programs will not only ensure users of the service have access to installer support but most importantly, contribute to the development of broadcasting in Ghana and the economic status of locals.
