Senegal defeated hosts Algeria on penalties to win their first African Nations Championship title.
The match ended 0-0 after 120 minutes, before Senegal pipped Algeria 5-4 in the shootout.
In the end, it was Golden Boot winner Aymen Mahious, who missed the crucial penalty that helped Senegal lift the trophy.
His weak effort was far too easy for goalkeeper Pape Sy, who saved comfortably.
The win for Senegal comes after the Sadio Mane and team fired the nation to win the African Cup of Nations, defeating Egypt last year.
Yesterday, Madagascar beat Niger 1-0 to win the third-place match.
Jean Razafindrakoto scored the winner in the 90th minute to seal the win at the Miloud Hadefi Stadium in Oran.
“This is such an amazing moment for me personally as well as the team in general,” Madagascar coach Romuald Rakotondrabe said after the win.
“It has been a long journey from the preparations to finishing third in Algeria.
“We are very proud of the players and everyone that worked hard to get here.”
