The Chief Executive Officer of Berekum Chelsea, Nana Oduro Sarfo says he is expecting the Club Licensing board of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to overturn its decision to reject club’s home venue for this season’s GPL with immediate effect.
This comes after the GFA Club Licensing Board rejected three match venues ahead of new GPL season.
Three Premier League clubs, Akyem Kotoku Royals FC, FC Samartex 1996 and Berekum Chelsea will start the Premier League campaign at their alternative match venues after home venues were rejected by the Licensing committee in its latest review.
Berekum Chelsea’s home venue, the Golden City Park was also deemed non-satisfactory after failing to meet the requirements and recommendations sent to them since last season.
Speaking in an interview on Happy FM, the CEO of Berekum Chelsea Nana Oduro Sarfo confirmed that, they received a letter from the GFA Club Licensing Board on September 1 indicating that their home venue has been rejected and have appealed against the decision.
“All what the Club Licensing Board came to do what was in the right direction.
“After the end of last season and the beginning of this new season, The club Licensing Board came for an inspection which alone doesn’t not conform to their regulations.
“There is a time table for us to follow, and the decision of the Board’s findings should be given two weeks before commencement of the league” He told Ohene Bampoe Brenya host of Happy Sports.
“If I should recall properly, I received the letter from the Club Licensing Board nine days before the commencement of the league which was wrong.
“They also breached confidentiality after promising that any findings will remain between the club and the Club Licensing Board” He also added.
