The Public Relations Officer for the National Sports Authority (NSA), Charles Amofah, has given the assurance that the Cape Coast Sports Stadium pitch will be ready and in prime condition for the 2022 World Cup playoff between Ghana and Nigeria.
The Black Stars host the Super Eagles in the first leg of the World Cup playoff on March 25 before the return leg on March 29 at the Mashood Abiola Stadium in Abuja.
The Cape Coast Sports Stadium hosted this year’s Independence Day celebration on March 6 which led to a portion of the pitch being damaged.
After pictures were released by the NSA on the state of the pitch, there have been reports which suggest that Ghana’s game is likely to be moved away to a neutral venue due to the poor state of the Cape Coast Sports Stadium pitch after the Independence Day event.
CAF inspectors have arrived in the country to inspect the facility to host this crucial first leg encounter next week Friday.
Charles Amofa, speaking on behalf of the NSA has assured Ghanaians the Cape Coast Sports Stadium will be ready for use.
“We (NSA) are ready for the game to be hosted at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium. The Sports Minister is even at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium to inspect the facility”, he told Happy FM.

“We want to get the best of the pitch to ensure we organize a very successful game at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.
“Our grounds men are at the venue and they are working to restore the pitch to the best of shape”, he added.
The Black Stars will open camp on Monday, March 21, 2022, to begin preparations for the game.
The Ghana Football Association is yet to also announce the squad for the doubleheader.
