Orlando Pirates head coach Mandla Ncikazi has disclosed that goalkeeper Richard Ofori has received a call up to the Black Stars for the game against Nigeria in the 2022 World Cup playoff.
The deputy Black Stars captain makes a return to the team after a long injury lay-off which saw him miss out on the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Cameroon.
Ofori on his injury return has reclaimed the number one spot at his club Orlando Pirates and was in post for the CAF Confederation Cup game against Royal Leopards on Sunday.
The South African giants won the game 3-0 with Ofori keeping a clean sheet.

Ahead of the World Cup playoff against Nigeria next week, Orlando Pirates head coach Mandla Ncikazi has confirmed Richard Ofori has been invited to the Ghana team for the crucial game against Nigeria.
“Ofori is a top professional, Ghana selected him without playing a game. I was surprised.” Ncikazi told the South Africa media.
“You could just see the confidence he brings and breathes around the defence and I’m sure he is going to lessen the leaking of goals at Pirates because more than the fact that we are not scoring we are also letting in goals and I’m sure it’s going to improve.” He added.
His return will bring a lot of competition to the goalkeeping department as he has to compete with Jojo Wollacot for the first choice goalkeeper.
Richard Ofori was last in post for the Black Stars during the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier against South Africa in Johannesburg.
