Former Ghanaian footballer Lawrence Adjei, says he is happy about Sulley Muntari’s decision to join his former side Hearts of Oak.
The 37-year-old has joined the Phobians on a six-month contract.
Sulley Muntari since joining the club has made four appearances, registering one assist in the Ghana Premier League.
He already has a medal to his collection after winning the 2022 President Cup as Hearts of Oak beat arch-rivals Asante Kotoko 2-1.
According to Lawrence Adjei, Sulley Muntari’s comeback to Ghana football should be commended and he is confident the former Inter and AC Milan star will prove his doubters and critics wrong with his performances.
“I was happy to hear Sulley Muntari join Hearts of Oak. He must be commended”, he told Ohene-Bampoe Brenya on Where Are They program on Happy 98.9FM.
“In Ghana, most at times the fans always like to criticize old players and am happy for Sulley Muntari to make a comeback to the league. Sulley hasn’t gotten his fitness yet and if he does everyone will see he is good player.
“I will not be surprised if he gets a Black Stars call up”, he added.
Lawrence Adjei now retired, lives in the United States with his family.
He played for Ghana Premier League sides Hearts of Oak, Asante Kotoko and Ashantigold.
Lawrence Adjei was part of the Hearts of Oak squad that won the 2004 CAF Confederation Cup.
