The Technical Director for the Ghana Table Tennis Association, Charles Tachie-Menson, has called on the government and corporate Ghana to take interest in the development of the sport in the country.
According to Tachie-Menson, there are numerous talents in the country but due to the lack of table tennis tables, most people are not able to engage in the sport.
Speaking in an interview on Wamputu Sports on Happy 98.9FM with Odiasempa Kwame Oware, he said, “If we put a lot of efforts into table tennis will develop in the country. Table Tennis needs a lot of support and sponsors. We must inspire interest in the sport as well.
“People have an interest in the sport but they don’t have the money to buy the table tennis table. That is why we are calling for support from the government and corporate Ghana to invest in the sport.
He stated that there is a need to train a lot of coaches in Ghana to help develop the talents in the country.
The GTTA Technical Director also praised the organizers of the Asawa National Table Tennis Championship which was staged in Koforidua over the weekend.
