Kotoko was the first team to be awarded the spot kick in the opening minutes of the game after Kwame Poku was fouled in the box.
Kwame Poku’s spot kick was saved by Richard Attah to deny Kotoko from getting the opening goal.
Obeng Junior nearly scored after capitalizing on a defensive error but Razak Abalorah came up with a good interception to deny Hearts of Oak from taking the lead.
Patrick Razak was close to breaking the deadlock in the 41st minute but his effort was saved by Razak Abalorah.
The two sides played cautiously in the first half as it ended goalless.
In the 54th minute Naby Keita came up with a ferocious strike but was not enough to trouble the Hearts of Oak goalkeeper.

Razak Abalorah came up with a beautiful save to deny Hearts from taking the lead after a poor taken spot kick from Isaac Mensah.
Asante Kotoko came close to scoring in the dying minutes of the game but Kwame Poku’s effort was denied by the woodwork as Hearts were left off the hook.
