Coach Ebusua Dwarfs Ernest Thompson has blamed his team’s defeat to Eleven Wonders to poor officiating in matchday two of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League.
Dwarfs lost the game by 2-0 at the Ohene-Ameyaw Park on Friday with goals from Mohammed Tetteh Nortey and Prince Okraku.
Referee Joshua Samadji awarded an unbelievable penalty to the home side after the ball struck the chest of a Dwarfs defender.
The Cape Coast-based team had to finish the game with 10-men after Prince Kpodo was sent off with 15 minutes left.
Eleven Wonders took advantage of the red card as Prince Okraku netted his second of the campaign to hand them a 2-0 victory.
Speaking in an interview on Happy Weekend Sports with George Mahamah on Happy 98.9FM, Ernest Thompson said they were unhappy about the performance of the referee and management will take the issue up
“The venue is turning out to be a waterloo for teams that visit the Ohene-Ameyaw Park due to poor officiating. Last season the same time happened, we scored and the goal was disallowed”.
“Yesterday we conceded a dubious penalty and a red card which weakened by team and led to our defeat. Our management will take it up and we were all not happy about the kind of officiating on the day”.
Thompson added that the team will bounce back stronger and avoid relegation.
“It is early days yet to talk about relegation. We have just started we have a lot of matches to play. We are confident we will bounce back stronger”.
